New Products

From time to time RAPID develops new products for the label printing and converting industry. We showcase these here before the machines go into production or while we are generating interest in a new design. Simply scroll down this page to view the current range of products we are developing. If you are interested in any machinery you see on this page, please contact our sales department, or our nearest agent to your location. If you are interested in any new equipment but would like to know if we can incorporate an extra feature, please contact our engineers directly.

RF1D1

RAPID's new range of Flexo/Diecutters. This range of full rotary flexographic printing presses has been on the drawing board for some time and we have just commissioned the prototype single colour, single diecut unit. The machines are available in any configuration of flexo print units, with two station rotary diecutter modules eg: RF4D2, four colour with one 2 station die module. The prototype was built with a custom single station die cutter for ease of testing. The range will be available with RAPID's unique tension control system, and COAST web guide for material control as an option. Drying is either by impinged turbulent hot air, or UV. Other methods of drying will be considered on request.

Other options available for the range will include shear knife slitting, matrix rewinding, corona treatment, and over lamination.

Current run speeds are up to 100 mpm and the machines are capable of running in a NO PRINT mode at the flick of a switch. Each print station is independantly controlled for ink supply and trow off of the plate cylinder. For flexibility machines are available as standard with an open duct inker system with reverse angle doctor blade and ceramic anilox rollers. As an option, print units will be available with sealed chamber ink ducts with incorporated doctor blades.

If you are interested in any way please comment as the module layout for the multicolour units is still under discussion. The design is leading towards drying below the print units as shown below, with cooling and heat extraction to prevent degradation of the ink and drying on the anilox. This allows the optional turner bar assembly to be easily accessible by the operator for webbing up, and the dryers for maintenance. We appreciate any comments so please email us by clicking HERE.

The machine layout above is shown with the large capacity unwind. This unit has active tension control, roll lifting, splice table and paper run out sensing. The first print unit has the active web guide mounted on it, and carriest the main motor for driving the line shaft, and the nip for web pacing ( not shown ), under the first anvil. UV Drying is optional, and if UV is utilised a shorter web path can be achieved. The subsequent print units are driven from the line shaft and are individually controllable for print functions. Each subsequent print station is capable of being equipped with the optional turn bar assembly, which allows the web to follow a natural path through the machine when not in use.

The die cut unit is driven from the line shaft, to the first Front Cutting unit, from there all subsequent stations and modules will be driven by belt to the back turning gear. Matrix stripping with driven assist roller is an option and one station can be fitted per die cut module. The second and subsequent die stations are all able to be used for front or back cutting as well as sprocket punching and sheeting.

The rewind module is similar to the unwind, however it can also carry the optional rotary slitter unit. Both unwind and rewind are capable of handling rolls in excess of 600 mm diameter. The rewind is fitted with an over size roll sensor, and an optional multi spindle rewind is being considered.
