svs_008.doc FIBRE OPTIC SCANNER MALFUNCTION All Rapid Machines 1:1) If difficulty is experienced when setting the fibre optic scanner to scan reliably then several things need to be checked. 1:2) Check that the scanner wand is not bent. 1:3) Check that the fibre cables are not kinked or cut along their length. 1:4) Check that the end of the scanner wand is clean and has no ink or dust on it. 1:4) Check that the ends of the fibre cables are cleanly cut and inserted all the way into the sockets. This is critical. 1:5) Check the web is stable under the scanner eye. A small plastic "shoe" may be fitted to hold the stock down on the table stabilising the web.
